90's Football Hall of Fame: Man City cult hero Georgi Kinkladze

Georgi Kinkladze was one of the most exciting players of the 90’s. He was a marvellous dribbler who scored some delightfully exquisite goals in his three year stint at Man City when were the club were still at Maine Road.

While he might be a cult hero with fans, ‘Kinky’ was also coach’s nightmare – he had more talent than anyone else, but lacked tactical discipline, didn’t possess particularly impressive physical attributes and was a number 10 when 4-4-2 reigned supreme. Manchester City also suffered two relegations during his time at the club, falling from the Premier League all the way down to the Second Division.

In the latest episode of the 90’s Football Hall of Fame show, we ponder whether or not Kinkladze was actually any good or just a flash in the pan. This podcast is hosted by Ste McGovern, Peter Henry and Anthony Kelly and is available on all platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
