Nuno Espirito Santo says he has not made a decision on whether to include Harry Kane for Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Manchester City.
Kane returned to Tottenham training today following a prolonged absence as the forward agitates for a summer exit, with the 28-year-old subject of interest from this weekend’s opponents.
City submitted an offer of £100m for the England captain earlier in the transfer window and are expected to return with renewed interest as the Premier League champions look to prise Kane from north London.
Nuno discussed Kane’s future at a pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s showdown, insisting no decision has been made over the star’s involvement this weekend.
“He joined the group today, he trained, we had a talk,” he revealed. “Of course it is a private conversation, but everything is OK. He is preparing himself.
“We still have the session of tomorrow to decide. We have to think and we have tomorrow to make the decision.”
Nuno added that he has no concerns about Kane’s frame of mind heading into their season opener, insisting his players should be ‘proud’ to play for ‘such a fantastic club’.
“I don’t have any concerns about trying to convince players to play for Tottenham. It’s such a huge club, it’s such a fantastic club. We should be proud of being here.”
