Maguire tips himself for success at Manchester United

Harry Maguire has backed himself to be a success at Manchester United, with the defender confident the club can enjoy ‘many good times’ in the coming seasons.

Maguire became the most expensive defender in football history when completing an £80m move to Old Trafford from Leicester this summer, though the club have endured a difficult start to the new season and currently sit 12th in the Premier League, mainly due to a lack of goals and creativity.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have endured their worst start to a season in 30 years, their 1-0 defeat at Newcastle last weekend extending their winless run away from home to 11 games in all competitions.

Despite the club’s poor performances in the opening weeks of the new campaign, Maguire is confident that both he and his teammates can achieve success in the long term.

“It’s the long term, that’s what the main thing is,” Maguire told Manchester United‘s official magazine Inside United.

“In five or six years, judge me then – whether I have been a success at this club or not.

“I do believe and am really confident that, in five or six years, I’ll be a success and I am sure we’ll have many, many good times here.

“We need to keep improving as a team, not just me as an individual. I feel, if we improve as a team, I’ll be a success too.”
