Lloris says Spurs have ‘something missing’

Hugo Lloris says Tottenham have ‘something missing’ as they bid to challenge for the Premier League title.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won just once in their opening four fixtures of the new season, already slipping seven points behind early league leaders Liverpool heading into the international break.

Spurs strengthened this summer with the signings of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, though club captain Lloris has cast doubt over his side’s title credentials this season.

“Liverpool and Man City have the experience and they are really competitive,” Lloris told Sky Sports.

“I think, at the moment, there’s something missing from us. We will see later in the season because things turn very quickly in football.

“The most important thing is we focus on ourselves, to get points, to get consistency in the league. And we will see where we are in the table in April, in March.

“That is the moment when you can win or lose European places or trophies. At the moment, we don’t want to lose focus with that type of question.”
