Captain, Leader, Legend. It’s a banner that still commemorates John Terry at Chelsea following one of the most decorated careers in English football history.
Terry became one of Chelsea’s greatest ever players following a more than two-decade association with the west London side, rising through the club’s academy ranks before becoming the Blues’ most successful captain of all time.
The defender ranks third for all-time appearances for Chelsea having made 717 in all competitions, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League and eight domestic cups during a career of incredible success.
Terry’s renown commitment to the cause and leadership skills made him the idealistic captain for his boyhood side, as Chelsea embarked on the most successful period in their history following Roman Abramovich’s takeover at Stamford Bridge.
One of the world’s best defenders at his peak, Terry was also a formidable attacking weapon for Chelsea and scored 67 goals in the club’s colours – a record for a defender.
