It’s that time of year again when Premier League clubs unveil their latest drip, with shirt sales big business for top-flight sides.
Arsenal have been one of the most stylish sides in the Premier League in recent seasons, with their latest home offering the traditional red and white with smart blue trims. On the road this season the Gunners have gone for a strip that celebrates ‘the strong links between Arsenal, North London and Africa’ with a black base and red and green colouring.
Following the latest editions, we’ve decided to look back on five of our favourite Arsenal shirts from the Premier League era.
Arsenal Home – 1996-98
The second shirt Nike produced for the Gunners in the Premier League was an absolute beauty.
Simplistic in design but beautiful as an aesthetic, this was the strip the North Londoners wore en route to a first Premier League crown – and domestic double – under Arsene Wenger in 1997-98.
The smart collar and cuff design, old-school crest and iconic Arsenal-JVC link-up make this a cult classic.
That’s even before we get to the magical moments by players wearing this Nike number. From Ian Wright breaking Cliff Bastin’s club goal record to that Tony Adams’s volley to wrap up the title, there was plenty to look back on with misty eyes.

Arsenal Home – 2000-02
Goodbye JVC, hello Dreamcast.
Arsenal’s kits across the turn of the millennium were arguably the best in England with this shirt another that is fondly remembered.
The Gunners won a second domestic double in 2001-02 and did so in style, with Thierry Henry in a league of his own, Dennis Bergkamp doing Dennis Bergkamp things, and Freddie Ljungberg’s trademark red mohawk.

Arsenal Away – 2001-02
Having SEGA as your shirt sponsor is pretty cool. Or cold. Or sick. Whatever the kids are saying these days.
Arsenal claimed a domestic double in 2001-02 and wore this sublime shirt for their title-clinching moment, as Sylvain Wiltord downed title rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford to seal the championship.
A gold shirt for the gold-standard side of the season, Nike designed a manifique strip for the North Londoner’s French-inspired side. Glorious gold with navy blue trim, this was a creation of pure class.

A glorious shirt sparking memories for a certain victory at Old Trafford in 2002.

Arsenal Home – 2005-06
The ‘Redcurrant Kit’ celebrated Arsenal’s final season at their Highbury home, as the Gunners prepared to leave their stadium of 90 years for the state-of-the-art Emirates.
The shirt was inspired by the first colours Arsenal ever wore at Highbury when the club requested a trio of newly-signed Nottingham Forest players to bring along their old kit with them.
Nike’s recreation of the redcurrent colours did not disappoint for the 2005-06 campaign, a wonderful tribute to one of English football’s iconic venues. It’s final outing was fitting as Thierry Henry – arguably Arsenal’s greatest-ever player – hit a hat-trick to seal Champions League qualification.

Arsenal Away – 2022-23
Arsenal’s decline post-Arsene Wenger means some rather nice-looking shirts have perhaps not received their dues, with the lack of memorable moments wearing them impacting their status.
Mikel Arteta has begun to put Arsenal back on the up, however, and this shirt from 2022-23 might go down as a long-term favourite if the Gunners can build from here.
Black shirts scream class and this effort from Adidas is super sleek, encompassing a gold-metallic for all logos and grey for the traditional 3 Stripes on the shoulders.
