Injuries are part and parcel of football at the highest level, the relentless physical demands on players unsurprisingly leading to the occasional knock and niggle.
Whilst tears, strains and impact issues are all commonplace on the training ground and in fixtures, there have been several incidents of freakish acts which have led to significant spells on the sidelines for some notable names.
