Arsenal’s five best number 10s of the Premier League era

Arsenal have had some fine footballers adorn the number ten shirt during the Premier League era, from home-grown heroes to marquee captures from Europe’s elite.

Emile Smith Rowe has been designated the famous shirt for the current season, the midfielder having been rewarded for his exciting emergence from the club’s academy system last season.

Smith Rowe has cemented himself as a central figure in Mikel Arteta’s plans over the past year, shining during the Gunners’ upturn in form last season and earning a maiden call-up to the senior England side during the opening months of the 2021/22 campaign.

The 21-year-old signed a new long-term deal earlier this year and will be hoping to emulate some of the greats of the north London side over the coming seasons.

We’ve decided to look back at some of the club’s past performers in the number ten shirt, here are five of the best Arsenal number tens of the Premier League era.
