The west London side were top of the division and leading courtesy of a Didier Drogba goal as the minutes ticked towards full-time, before Alex stepped up from distance in the closing stages of a fiercely contested game.
The centre-back’s took a long striding run-up before unleashing a thunderbastard of incredible power, his strike flying beyond the despairing dive of Lukasz Fabianski to seal all three points and local bragging rights for Chelsea.
