Ashley Young has labelled Paul Pogba as world-class following Manchester United’s FA Cup victory over Chelsea on Monday night.
The Frenchman had a hand in both goals, the second of which Pogba headed in on the stroke of half-time, effectively killing the game and sending Manchester United into the quarter-finals.
Young praised the team as a whole for their efforts, but singled out Pogba as being an elite player after adding another goal and an assist to his season’s tally at Stamford Bridge.
“He’s a world-class player,” Young told manutd.com.
“You don’t win a World Cup for no reason, but it’s not just about Paul, it’s a team game and squad game.
“Everyone that started the game, everyone on the bench, the boys that came on were fantastic. Scott [McTominay] was only on for a few minutes but he did his job and played his part. When Andreas [Pereira] and Alexis [Sanchez] came on, they were fantastic as well.
“It’s all competition for places and it keeps everyone on their toes. Every day in training, you’ve got to be giving 100 percent and everyone wants to be in the team. When you’re winning games, everyone wants to be in that team and be part of it.”
Man United were drawn with Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-final draw following the game, who they will play at Molineux on 16 March.
