Inter Milan made Ronaldo Nazario the most expensive player in football history for a second time when signing the forward from Barcelona in 1997.
Ronaldo was still just 21 at the time of his record-breaking move to the San Siro, but had already set the world transfer record on two occasions following a blistering start to his career in European football.
The Brazilian had netted 101 goals in just 106 appearances across spells at PSV and Barcelona, including 47 in all competitions to fire the latter to UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, Spanish Super Cup and Copa Del Rey successes in 1996/97.
Ronaldo arrived at Inter dubbed O Fenomeno and soon lived up to that billing, being named as Serie A Footballer of the Year after his 34 goals in all competitions inspired the Nerazzurri to UEFA Cup success.
Sadly for Inter that incredible debut season was the best they would see of Ronaldo in the club’s colours, as career-threatening injuries impacted much of the forward’s next four seasons.
At his brilliant best there have been few better however, here are Ronaldo Nazario’s best moments at Inter Milan.
