Gianluigi Buffon was the greatest goalkeeper of his generation and amongst the finest to have ever adorned the gloves.

Buffon’s greatest years undoubtedly came in the colours of Juventus, signing from Parma in a world record deal before enjoying almost two unbroken decades of success in Turin.

His list of accolades includes ten league titles and five Coppa Italia trophies, becoming Juventus’ most decorated player with no footballer having ever represented the Bianconeri on more occasions in Serie A.

Buffon was a goalkeeper who brought confidence and security to his side, capable of wondrous moments of agility and retaining a cool head in even the most intense encounters.

The World Cup winner – whose 176 caps for Italy is also a national record – produced some incredible saves for Juventus, including many from the penalty spot.
