Ten Hag has ‘his heart set’ on Man Utd job

Erik ten Hag has ‘his heart set’ on becoming Manchester United’s next permanent manager and has began English lessons ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag is believed to be among the frontrunners to become the Red Devils’ next manager, with the Premier League side currently conducting a ‘thorough process’ as the club look to make an appointment ahead of next season.

The Dutchman has won admirers for his work with Ajax in recent seasons, winning two Eredivisie titles and turning the side in a competitive force on the Champions League stage.

The Mail are reporting that Ajax are aware of Ten Hag’s intention to leave at the end of the season and the 52-year-old is hopeful a fluent grasp of English can aid his hopes of a move to the Premier League.

Ten Hag’s attractive brand of football, proven record of winning silverware, and experience of working under a structured hierarchy are all factors which have made him a strong contender for the vacant role.

He was linked with the Tottenham job last summer, but the report states that the language barrier proved problematic during discussions with the north London side.

Mauricio Pochettino also remains a lead contender and has been a long-term target for United, but the Argentine is currently contracted to Paris Saint-Germain and has also been linked with Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti has been mentioned as a contingency candidate and could become an option for the Red Devils, should Real Madrid decide to part ways with the experienced Italian.
