Spurs re-sign Vorm as Lloris cover

Tottenham have re-signed free agent goalkeeper Michel Vorm as cover for injured captain Hugo Lloris.

Vorm previously spent five seasons at Spurs before leaving at the expiry of his contract during the summer, with the 35-year-old able to re-sign outside of the transfer window as an unattached player.

The Dutchman’s return comes after first-choice Lloris was ruled out until at least the new year, the France international having dislocated his elbow in the defeat at Brighton earlier this month.

Paulo Gazzaniga is likely to replace Lloris as first-choice goalkeeper, though Vorm will provide competition and back-up for the former Southampton shot-stopper.

A club statement on the re-signing of Vorm read: “As a free agent, Michel has been able to re-sign outside of the two designated annual transfer windows and will provide additional goalkeeping cover following the elbow injury sustained by Hugo in the match at Brighton earlier this month.”
