Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is ‘very excited’ by the imminent arrival of Amad Diallo at Manchester United as the winger edges closer to completing his move from Atalanta.
The teenager’s transfer to the Premier League was announced on deadline day of the summer window, though the youngster is set to link up with the side this month subject to completing a medical and the approval of a work permit.
Diallo has made two substitute appearances for Atalanta this season and is currently awaiting confirmation of his work permit following new rules regarding player signings following Brexit, the prospective arrival having been born in the Ivory Coast before moving to Italy as a youngster.
Manchester United boss Solskjaer admits he is ‘excited’ to work with the 18-year-old and says he does not forsee any ‘obstacles’ in finalising the transfer, with the £37m deal for Diallo set to be announced by the Red Devils in the coming days.
“Amad, we’ve had all the paperwork, I can’t see any obstacles,” Solskjaer said at his post-match press conference
“Hope very soon he will be with us. Very excited to have him in. He’ll need time to develop.
“Apart from that I’m not thinking too much about January.”
United moved level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League following a 2-1 win over Aston Villa yesterday, with Solskjaer’s side next travelling to face Burnley in a rescheduled league fixture on Tuesday night.
