Manchester United have confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning return to the club from Juventus.
United agreed a deal for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner last week and have now confirmed the signing of Ronaldo on a two-year contract, with the option of a further season.
Ronaldo spent six seasons with the Red Devils and won three league titles and the Champions League during his previous spell at the club, before becoming Real Madrid’s all-time record goalscorer following a world-record move to Spain in 2009.
The Portugal captain has expressed his delight at making the return to the Premier League, telling the club’s official website of his excitement to re-join ‘a club that has always had a special place in my heart’.
“Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday.,” Ronaldo said.
“I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again. I’m looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also spoke on the return of the club great, with Ronaldo’s signing following the summer captures of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane in a statement of intent from the Red Devils.
Ronaldo finished as the leading scorer in Serie A last season, the five-time Champions League winner becoming the first player in history to win leading scorer accolades in England, Spain and Italy.
“You run out of words to describe Cristiano,” Solskjaer said on Ronaldo’s return.
“He is not only a marvellous player, but also a great human being. To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level for such a long period requires a very special person.
“I have no doubt that he will continue to impress us all and his experience will be so vital for the younger players in the squad. Ronaldo’s return demonstrates the unique appeal of this club and I am absolutely delighted he is coming home to where it all started.”
