Rojo confirms Manchester United blocked Everton move

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has revealed that the club blocked his summer move to Everton.

The Argentine international was linked with a move away from Old Trafford throughout the summer after struggling to secure first-team football, with Premier League rivals Everton believed to have been interested in signing the former Sporting Lisbon defender on Deadline Day.

The 29-year-old has now revealed that Manchester United blocked his exit from the club, but says he will again consider leaving in the winter window should his situation not improve under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“It’s difficult to leave when you are in such a big club,” he told Argentine outlet Ole.

“I had the possibility of Everton, but by decisions of the club or the manager it wasn’t possible.

“Now I have to fight until December and if it doesn’t work out, I will try to leave.

“The qualifiers and the Copa America are coming and I want to be part of that. I don’t want to be out again, I want to exhaust all the possibilities and compete to be here.”
