Lionel Messi made headlines across the football world last weekend following a wonderful individual display to secure Barcelona Copa del Rey success.
Messi’s mesmerising performance saw him score twice as the Catalan side beat Athletic Bilbao to win the Spanish Cup, including a brilliant individual effort after beginning the attacking move inside his own half.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is a player who has produced brilliance on an almost weekly basis for more than a decade, whilst Bilbao are no strangers to the genius possessed by Barcelona’s all-time record goalscorer.
Messi scored one of his most famous goals in a previous cup final clash against Bilbao back in 2015, a wondrous solo effort that saw him evade five challenges before firing home to open the scoring.
It was an incredible piece of individualism from arguably the best player to have graced the game, a goal that saw fans and pundits alike run out of superlatives to describe the outstanding Argentine.
Following Messi’s latest magic moment, we remember one of his greatest goals.
