Cristiano Ronaldo became the greatest goalscorer in Real Madrid’s history during a stunning period at the Bernabeu, one which saw the forward establish himself as one of the game’s all-time greats.
Ronaldo proved a talismanic presence for the Spanish giants, scoring 450 goals in just 438 appearances and winning four Champions League trophies amongst his honours.
Amongst the Portuguese star’s preferred opponents was city neighbours Atletico Madrid, enjoying an excellent derby record against his club’s cross-town rivals with 12 goals in 16 league appearances.
Ronaldo also scored a stunning hat-trick in a Champions League clash between the sides, scoring three times during a 2016/17 semi-final meeting as Real Madrid earned a comfortable first-leg lead to take to the Vicente Calderón.
With Ronaldo set to face Atletico in this season’s competition with Manchester United, we look back and remember his brilliant hat-trick against the Spanish side in 2016/17.
