Real Madrid are said to be interested in signing Diogo Dalot this summer with Carlo Ancelotti remaining keen on the signing of the Manchester United full-back.
Ancelotti expressed an interest in signing Dalot at Everton last summer as he sought to strengthen his options at right-back, the youngster instead signing for AC Milan on a season-long loan deal for the 2020/21 campaign.
The Italian quit Everton earlier this summer in favour of a return to former club Real Madrid, though is reportedly eyeing a second approach for Dalot.
According to the Star, Ancelotti is eyeing a move for the 22-year-old as he looks to ‘rejuvenate’ an ageing Real Madrid backline, with Dani Carvajal having struggled with injury problems last season.
Dalot has found opportunities in Manchester restricted following the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019, whilst the Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier to provide competition at right-back.
AC Milan had been linked with extended Dalot’s stay in Italy after the defender made 21 appearances across all competitions, but interest from Spain could see Dalot head to the Bernabeu.
United have been strongly linked with a move to sign Raphael Varane from Real this summer, opening up the possibility of the full-back being used in part-exchange.
Dalot formed part of the Portugal squad at Euro 2020 after being called up to replace Joao Cancelo, making his senior international debut during the 2-2 group stage draw with France.
