Real Madrid are monitoring Manchester City’s situation ahead of reigniting interest in Enzo Fernandez.
The Spanish giants were interested in signing Fernandez before his move to Manchester from Chelsea in the summer, but were put off by an eventual £125m price tag.
Real remain admirers of the Argentine, however, and are keen to add a marquee midfielder to their ranks. According to Bernabéu Digital, Real are monitoring the ongoing uncertainty around the Cityzens, who have been found guilty of historical Premier League financial rule breaches. Should significant sanctions be imposed on City that would see a fire-sale of talent, Real are ready to move for Fernandez.
The 25-year-old has made seven Premier League appearances this season, following his British transfer record-equalling move to the Etihad.
The transfer saw Fernandez reunite with former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, having won the Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup under Maresca in West London.
Fernandez is not the only player that Real Madrid have on their radar. The La Liga side are ready to move for Erling Haaland should City’s potential sanctions lead to sales.
