Ranking the five favourites to sign Jesse Lingard this summer

Jesse Lingard’s loan move to West Ham has seen the midfielder reignite his career in some style, going from the fringes at Manchester United to the forefront of the Hammers’ Champions League chase.

Lingard had not played a single minute of Premier League football this season before his loan switch to the London Stadium, where he has since scored nine goals in just 10 league appearances to become a firm fans’ favourite.

His performances earned him a recall to the England squad after an almost two-year absence last month and are not likely to have gone unnoticed by clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

West Ham are understood to be desperate to secure his services on a permanent basis, but could face strong competition from a host of teams both in the Premier League and further afield.

So for those of you interested in the best betting deals on, here are the five favourites to sign Jesse Lingard.

Paris Saint-Germain – 25/1

Paris Saint-Germain have been tentatively linked with a move for the England international in recent weeks, a move that would see the midfielder link up with Mauricio Pochettino at the Parc des Princes.

Pochettino will be well aware of Lingard’s talents having spent several seasons in the Premier League as manager of Southampton and Tottenham, and could view the 28-year-old as the ideal player to strengthen his side this summer.

Lingard will have just a year remaining on his contract this summer and a move to a side capable of challenging for the Champions League would surely appeal, despite Gareth Southgate’s advice to remain in the Premier League when considering a loan last winter.

Featuring in a side containing the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar is unlikely to hinder his chances of regaining a regular role with England, even if he is out of the Premier League spotlight.

Inter Milan – 20/1

If there is one club that loves handing an opportunity to an out-of-favour Manchester United player, it’s Inter Milan.

Antonio Conte has built a strong side at the San Siro over the past two seasons with the Nerazzurri heading towards a first league title in over a decade, their current squad containing four former Old Trafford teammates of Lingard in Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian.

Italian football’s champions elect have been priced as 20/1 odds to sign the midfielder and are another side who almost certainly can offer Lingard Champions League football for next season.

Lingard was linked with Inter before his move to West Ham in the winter window, but the previously underperforming Christian Eriksen’s performances since the turn of the New Year have lessened the club’s need for attacking midfield reinforcements.

Arsenal – 14/1

Lingard has been a regular tormentor of Arsenal throughout his Premier League career, scoring four goals and providing two assists in just eight league appearances against the north London side.

Arsenal have been priced as 14/1 third favourites to sign the midfielder this summer, with Mikel Arteta’s side in need of creative reinforcements following a disappointing domestic campaign.

The Gunners currently have Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard on loan for the remainder of the season and will hold talks with the Spanish champions over an extension, though Lingard could become a viable alternative should talks fail to progress.

That said, finances are expected to be tight at the Emirates this summer and with Lingard’s value increasing with each passing performance it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can secure a deal.

Leicester – 5/1

West Ham’s strongest competition for Lingard’s signature could come from Leicester, the Foxes amongst the sides currently competing with David Moyes’ outfit for a place in the Champions League.

Leicester have been amongst the most impressively ran clubs in the Premier League in recent seasons, selling a whole host of valuable assets whilst continuing their upward trajectory, one that has accelerated under Brendan Rodgers.

Lingard’s endless energy would make him a stylistic fit for Leicester and with previous experience of the club – spending a brief loan spell with the Foxes in 2012/13 – the midfielder could be open to a return.

Rodgers would no doubt welcome the 28-year-old with open arms having seen the performances that can be coaxed from Lingard when given the right platform to enjoy his football.

West Ham – 7/2

West Ham have unsurprisingly been installed as 7/2 favourites to sign Lingard this summer, the Hammers having proven the perfect fit for a player enjoying the best spell of his career.

It’s now nine goals and three assists in just 10 league appearances for David Moyes’ side, with West Ham desperate to secure his services on a permanent basis this summer.

Having flirted with relegation last season the Hammers are firmly in the mix for a top-four finish this time around, Moyes having built a team packed with energy and endeavour – traits which have suited Lingard perfectly.
