Manchester United are ‘not interested’ in selling Anthony Martial this summer, despite reported interest from Inter Milan.
Martial has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks following a disappointing campaign last term, with the 25-year-old scoring just seven goals across all competitions after struggling for form and fitness.
Inter Milan have been credited with an interest in signing the France international as Romelu Lukaku closes in on a move to Chelsea, though the BBC are reporting that the Red Devils are ‘not interested’ in allowing Martial to leave.
Inter are closing in on the signing of veteran forward Edin Dzeko from Roma, but have been credited as admirers of Martial despite their current uncertain financial situation.
The Italian champions have been forced into the sale of some of their leading assets this summer as a result of the financial impact of the pandemic, sanctioning the sales of Achraf Hakimi and Lukaku – with the latter set to complete a £97.5m return to the Premier League.
Recent reports had suggested Inter could look to reinvest some of those funds and a fee of around £50m could persuade United to part with Martial, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to raise funds for his pursuits of additions at full-back and central midfield.
However, the BBC say that Martial remains a part of Solskjaer’s plans ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season, with United beginning their league campaign with a clash against Leeds at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.
The United number 9 has recently returned to fitness following a knee injury sustained on International duty in March that saw him miss the last few months of the season.
