Jose Mourinho has already ‘chosen another club’ as he prepares to return to management, that’s according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas anyway.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager has been out of work since being sacked at Old Trafford in December, with the two-time Champions League winner being patient as he awaits a return to a club he feels can challenge for major honours.
Having sacked manager Sylvinho after just 141 days following the club’s poor start to the new season, Lyon had expressed an interest in bringing Mourinho to Ligue 1.
However, Aulas has now revealed that Mourinho rejected their proposal with a decision having already been made over his future.
“We had some fairly flattering exchanges over text,” Aulas stated.
“It was nice for everyone. He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club.”
German giants Bayern Munich are the current bookmaker’s favourites for Mourinho’s next role, with roles at Paris Saint-Germain and struggling Premier League sides Tottenham and Everton also having been strongly muted.
