Frank Lampard has praised his Chelsea side after they continued their push for a top-four finish with a convincing 3-0 victory over Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Tammy Abraham doubled the Blues’ lead before half-time, Callum Hudson-Odoi completing the scoring in the second period following a chipped pass from captain Cesar Azplicueta on a comfortable afternoon for Lampard’s side.
Victory saw Chelsea return to winning ways in the Premier League following their draw with Brighton on New Year’s Day, and Lampard was full of praise for his side following an impressive home performance.
“It’s a very convincing win,” Lampard told BBC’s MOTD.
”I thought there were some great passages of play throughout the game but the overall performance was superb.
“We played with a really positive attitude – particularly Ross [Barkley] and Callum [Hudson-Odoi]. We have set a standard today and we know we haven’t reached that recently.”
Reece James was amongst the stand-out performers for Chelsea as the youngster delivered yet another mature showing, the 20-year-old providing the assist for Abraham’s goal in a typically industrious display.
Lampard reserved praise for the academy graduate who is continuing to grow in stature at the club, and believes James has the potential to reach the very top if he considers to work hard under his tutelage.
“He is still very, very young. In terms of his quality he is getting better all the time. He is a big player in the making,” Lampard added.
”If he keeps working hard he has a great chance.”
