Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits he loves young forward, Rhian Brewster, calling him a ‘fantastic player’.
The highly-rated youngster has impressed during the club’s pre-season campaign, benefitting from the absence of the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane who have all been handed an extended leave following international commitments.
Brewster, who finished as the tournament’s top scorer during England’s U17 World Cup win two years ago, has seen his progress hampered by serious injuries, but having returned to full fitness is ready to make an impact in the Liverpool first-team.
Klopp says the 19-year-old will have an ‘important role’ to play this season, with Brewster likely to replace the departed Daniel Sturridge as back-up to Firmino and Divock Origi.
“I love the boy, he is a fantastic player. Why should I play it down?” Klopp told the press association, as per the Irish Independent.
“Rhian Brewster is a top striker, he is a top talent and I have told him already that he has an important role this year – but how important depends on him.”
