Salah v Brighton

Klopp ‘100%’ sure Salah will be fresh after not featuring for Egypt during international break

Jurgen Klopp says he is ‘100%’ sure Mohamed Salah will return fresh following the forward’s rest during the recent international break.

The Egyptian did not travel with the national side for their recent fixtures with Niger and Nigeria, with Egypt having already secured qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Salah has been in indifferent form for Liverpool of late, having scored just one goal in his previous eight league appearances, but Klopp insists the 26-year-old will return invigorated from his recent break.

“Oh, 100 per cent,’’ Klopp told his pre-match press conference ahead of the tomorrow’s crunch clash with Spurs.

“Of course if you can gain freshness in that time then that’s clear.

“The boys never had a day off, actually. They always trained, but individually and not at the highest intensity, so that helps of course. Not only for Mo, for the others as well. All good.”

Liverpool host Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday, knowing a win will return the Reds back to the top of the Premier League.

Captain Jordan Henderson is doubtful with a knock, though Trent Alexander-Arnold should be fit having withdrawn from the England squad for the recent internationals.
