Jurgen Klinsmann proved one of the best German footballers of his era and it came as no surprise when the forward took up the opportunity to sign with Bundesliga behemoth Bayern Munich in the late nineties.
Klinsmann had been named as the FWA Footballer of the Year during a single season at Tottenham, but the lure of Germany’s most successful side proved too difficult to turn down as the star reached the latter stages of his prolific career.
The World Cup-winning star enjoyed a fruitful two-season spell in Bavaria, scoring 31 goals in all competitions during his maiden season as UEFA Cup success was secured, before winning the Bundesliga title in 1996/97.
He left to wind down his career with Sampdoria having scored 48 goals in just 84 appearances for Bayern, a fitting finale to his career in German football.
