Everton are being linked with a move to sign former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona this summer.
Coutinho has failed to live up to expectations since leaving Liverpool in a £142m deal in 2018, struggling to find his role in the side and spending last season on loan with Bayern Munich before returning to the Camp Nou.
He formed part of the Bayern side that won a Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal treble last season, though the Bavarians opted against signing the star on a permanent basis.
The Brazilian featured regularly during the opening months of the campaign but has been ruled out since December through injury and there are suggestions that Barcelona are prepared to sanction his sale should they receive a suitable offer this summer.
According to TZ, as per Marca, Everton are amongst the clubs interested in signing the 28-year-old and are willing to make a bid of around €40 million (£35m) to secure his services.
That fee would represent a huge loss for Barcelona, but the club’s ongoing financial concerns could persuade the Catalans to cash in on a player who has largely disappointed since arriving in Spain, as well as clear his wages off their books.
Leicester, Arsenal and Tottenham have previously been linked with the player who could be open to a return to English football, though a move to Everton would represent a bold move given the star’s five-year association on the red half of Merseyside.
