Euro 2012 saw Spain cement themselves as arguably the greatest international team of all time, emerging victorious to secure a third consecutive major tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
Spain failed to concede a single goal following their opening draw with Italy in the group stage, who they met once again and ruthlessly punished in the final with an emphatic 4-0 win.
The Azzurri had impressed in beating England and Germany to reach the final, though it was a different story for the Netherlands who disappointed to lose all three group games – just two years after reaching the World Cup final.
Euro 2012 was a tournament in which playmakers thrived and the goals were shared amongst a collection of forwards, a huge six players finishing on a tournament-leading three goals with Fernando Torres becoming the first ever player to score in two finals.
