Samuel Eto’o’s goalscoring prowess saw the forward become one of the finest of his generation, the best period of his career seeing that star enjoy a prolific spell at Barcelona.
Eto’o scored 130 goals in just 199 appearances for the Spanish side across all competitions, winning three league titles and twice lifting the Champions League during his time at the Camp Nou.
Amongst the greatest examples of his finishing instinct came during a clash against Real Valladolid in November 2008, with Eto’o scoring four times in the first half to set the Catalan club on their way to an emphatic 6-0 win.
Thierry Henry and Eidur Gudjohnsen completed the rout in the second half, but the evening belonged to the clinical Cameroon international.
Eto’o finished the season with 36 goals in all competitions as Barcelona completed a historic treble under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.
