Real Madrid have never been afraid to spend big to lure the world’s finest footballers to Spain, the early 2000s seeing Los Blancos sign some of the game’s leading lights.
President, Florentino Perez, dreamed of a superstar side and assembled a side of global giants, the likes of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo Nazario all arriving at the Bernabeu in successive summers.
The following year saw Real spend big once more to sign English football’s prized possession, David Beckham leaving Manchester United to become the club’s latest Galactico addition.
Beckham’s boyband good looks, mainstream marketability and sublime technique made him a perfect addition to the Spanish side’s ranks, the midfielder making 155 appearances for Real across four seasons.
His technique and endeavour endeared him to a demanding Bernabeu crowd and whilst silverware failed to come as freely as first hoped, the Galactico era is one remembered fondly by the neutrals.
Beckham formed part of the side which won the La Liga title in 2006/07 before moving to MLS, though not before producing some memorable moments in the famed all-white colours.
Here are David Beckham’s best moments for Real Madrid.
