Zidane says Hazard is ‘ready’ for Chelsea reunion

Zinedine Zidane says Eden Hazard is ‘ready’ for a reunion with Chelsea as Real Madrid prepare to face the Premier League side in the Champions League semi-finals.

Real Madrid progressed to the last four after beating Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate in the last eight, their reward another meeting with English opposition and a two-legged tie with Chelsea.

The clash will see Eden Hazard face his former side, the winger having spent seven successful seasons with the west Londoners before a big-money move to the Spanish capital in 2019.

Hazard has endured a frustrating time with injury since making the move to Real Madrid however, including making just 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

The Belgium international has not featured in Los Blancos’ last four league games following a relapse of the injury that has sidelined him for much of the season, though Zidane has confirmed he expects the winger to be available ahead of a first leg meeting with Chelsea on April 27.

“He is feeling very better and he is ready,” he said. “He wants to be back more than anyone else.

“We have been more cautious with [Dani] Carvajal and Hazard, because they are relapses.

“They are both better and that is good for the team.”
