Wise admits Willian would be a ‘wonderful fit’ for Arsenal

Dennis Wise admits Willian would be a ‘wonderful fit’ for Arsenal as speculation continues to link the out-of-contract Chelsea star with a move to their London rivals.

Willian is expected to leave Chelsea on a free transfer this summer after seven seasons at Stamford Bridge, the Brazil international having failed to agree a new contract and likely to move on as Frank Lampard targets new additions for the west London side.

Arsenal and Tottenham have been suggested as potential destinations for the 31-year-old who has expressed his happiness with life in England and the capital, and former Chelsea captain Wise believes the winger – who scored twice in the club’s defeat at West Ham on Wednesday – would undoubtedly strengthen the club’s rivals.

“Well, I wouldn’t want him to go to any of them, I’ve got to say because it’ll be competition for Chelsea,” Wise told Stadium Astro.

“Go to Italy please, Willian. Go away.”

“I think he’d be a good fit for anyone; Arsenal, I think he’d be a wonderful fit for them. That’s the sad thing about it, we’ll let him go to an opposition who wants to compete.

“We have to replace him with more, we have replaced him but we will [need] a lot more because we’ll be depending on only two when you want more.

“I think Pedro is going to go as well, so we’re going to lose two wide men. We’ll be disappointed to lose him as well. When you look at the quality that’s going, Chelsea have got to look for quality to come in.”
