Wayne Rooney has praised Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, admitting the German ‘is a manager every player would love playing for’.
Klopp guided Liverpool to the first trophy of his Anfield career last month, with the Reds being crowned champions of Europe for a sixth time after beating Tottenham in the Champions League final last month.
Former England captain Rooney has begrudgingly lavished praise on Klopp, though with Rooney having spent the majority of his career at arch-rivals Manchester United and Everton, says the 51-year-old’s ‘only mistake’ is his allegiance to the red half of Merseyside.
“Jurgen is a manager every player would love playing for,” Rooney told Bild.
“You can see how much fun his players have playing under him. I met him once, he is an amazing guy.
“His only mistake is that he works for Liverpool and is successful there.
“I have much respect for Jurgen Klopp and for what he already has achieved. Not only in Liverpool, but also in Dortmund.
“This guy really has it. And he has his best years still upon him.”
