Villa boss reveals Grealish is fit and ‘raring to go’ for Fulham clash

Dean Smith has revealed that Jack Grealish is fit and ‘raring to go’ ahead of Aston Villa’s clash with Fulham this weekend.

Grealish has been struggling with a shin injury in recent weeks and missed out on selection for England during the international break, having missed Villa’s past six Premier League fixtures during a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

Villa have seen their hopes of securing European football suffer a downturn in the absence of the club captain, taking just five points from those six fixtures to drop to 10th in the division.

Smith’s side welcome a Fulham team mired in the bottom three to Villa Park this weekend and the Villa boss has revealed that the club will be boosted by Grealish’s return with the midfielder ‘raring to go’.

Grealish has been one of the Premier League’s stand-out players this weekend and scored six goals alongside providing 10 assists and Smith admits the 25-year-old’s return is a ‘big boost’ to the side.

“Jack Grealish is back and raring to go. Back in for selection.” Smith said at his pre-match press conference.

“The last six weeks haven’t been what they had been previously. It will be a big boost to have him around.

“We have pretty much a fully-fit squad. Wesley is still trying to get match fitness and he’s playing for the U23s today. Kortney Hause is in training. We had practice games with all the players who weren’t getting minutes.”
