Deco’s wonderful free-kick for Barcelona

Deco enjoyed four seasons of success at Barcelona with the creative midfielder a key figure in the club’s rise back to the elite.

Signed from Porto after being the inspiration behind the Portuguese side’s shock Champions League triumph under Jose Mourinho, Deco slotted seamlessly into a Barcelona team that contained talents including Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho.

The midfielder made 161 appearances and scored 21 goals, winning back-to-back league titles with the Catalan club and adding a second Champions League winners’ medal to his collection.

Deco’s inventive passing and technical ability saw him flourish in Spanish football and resulted in some spectacular moments, including this brilliant free-kick against Levante.

Here is Deco’s free-kick for Barcelona against Levante in December 2006.
