Varane finally set to jet to England ahead of Man Utd move

Raphael Varane is set to fly to England today ahead of completing his move to Manchester United from Real Madrid.

United have reached an agreement to sign Varane in a deal worth around £42m, with the France international now set to head to Manchester to complete a medical and finalise the switch this week.

The 28-year-old has been awaiting a visa to move to England and will have to undergo a period of quarantine before completing the formalities of the switch, as the Red Devils prepare to officially announce their second major signing of the summer.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Varane’s visa situation has been resolved ahead of a flight to the UK as the defender closes in on the signing of a four-year contract at Old Trafford.

Varane has decided on a new challenge in the Premier League after entering the final year of his contract at Real Madrid, and leaves the Spanish capital after winning three league titles and four Champions League trophies during a decade of success at the Bernabeu.

The centre-back will miss United’s final pre-season friendly against Everton on Saturday evening, but could be in contention for the club’s opening fixture of the Premier League season as the Red Devils host Leeds on August 14.
