Emery pleased with ‘organisation’ as Arsenal go third

Unai Emery has praised his side’s organisational abilities after seeing Arsenal move up to third in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates.

David Luiz scored his first goal for the club since his summer move from Chelsea, heading home from Nicolas Pepe’s corner to score the game’s only goal in the ninth minute.

Victory lifted Arsenal to third following Leicester City‘s defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, whilst their win also extended their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions.

Gunners boss Emery was pleased with his side’s performance, praising his side’s defensive organisation in keeping just a second league clean sheet of the season.

“We were speaking before the match, the first four matches we played, today we wanted to do one step ahead, doing better and controlling better the match but knowing it was going to be difficult,” Emery said in his post-match press conference.

“We played with a very good organisation, defensively very strong. We scored one goal and got into their box with possibilities to score goals.

“The second half was a very good opportunity to keep our confidence, to get better with the ball and stop their action with the ball. We did it perfectly in the first half but in the second half, maybe because the chances arrived late, we lost that.

“We are very happy with that result and very proud of that result.”
