Thomas Tuchel has provided injury updates on Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham with both players remaining unavailable for this weekend’s clash with Leeds.
Chelsea travel to face Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime, looking to continue their unbeaten record under the new head coach with the west Londoners undefeated in 11 fixtures since the German’s arrival in January.
Tuchel’s side will once again be without the injured Thiago Silva, however, with the veteran centre-back having suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained in the win at Tottenham last month.
The 36-year-old had returned to the substitutes’ bench for the 2-0 win over Everton last weekend, but will not be considered for the clash with Marcelo Bielsa’s side tomorrow.
Tammy Abraham also remains absent with the forward struggling with an ankle problem, Tuchel revealing the England international is ‘still not 100% comfortable’ and will not be risked at Leeds.
“Thiago Silva has had a setback in training on Wednesday, he felt something at the end of the session in the same area where he had his injury before.” Tuchel told his pre-match press conference.
“Same goes for Tammy Abraham, he still has the ankle pain and he’s still not 100% comfortable.
“Both players will be out but the rest are available.”
Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League and will be looking to strengthen their push for a top-four finish this weekend, ahead of the second leg of the club’s Champions League last-16 meeting with Atletico Madrid, the Blues holding a 1-0 advantage from the first encounter.
