Liverpool injury latest on Barcola, Munoz and Szoboszlai ahead of Brighton

Andoni Iraola delivered the latest Reds injury news ahead of the weekend's action.

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has delivered the latest injury updates on Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz and Dominik Szoboszlai ahead of this weekend.

The Reds entertain high-flying Brighton at Anfield on Sunday as they look to secure their first home win in the Premier League this season.

The Merseyside outfit have a number of ruled out of the game, including Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni.

Szoboszlai is close to returning from a hamstring injury, but will miss the Brighton match, as will Munoz after he took a knock against Brentford.

Barcola, however, has been declared fit to play and will be available for selection. The French winger came off the bench against Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, but did not partake in training on Thursday.

Iraola assuaged fears that Barcola had been stricken by an injury problem, explaining that Liverpool are managing his load following his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain.

“Bradley has trained today normally. He’s fine, no problems. It was just a case of dealing with the load and sometimes, they have to stay inside.

“Victor has a knock against Brentford in the first half. He could finish the game very well but he’s dealing with some pain. It was too early the other day against Villarreal and I don’t know if he’s going to arrive [be ready for Brighton].

“Dom is going to be out this weekend. I don’t think it is far, but he hasn’t trained with the group still and also considering that the other day [against Brentford] we started him and he had to go out, we will probably take one or two days more than we would last week.

“It is a good place. Dom is already training outside alone and he is going to play with the group, but he is not ready for this one.”
