Thomas Tuchel has called on Chelsea to ‘get tough’ after a sloppy start to the Premier League season.
Chelsea are tenth in the Premier League after just two wins from their opening five fixtures, with Tuchel having been critical of his side following a 2-1 loss at Southampton in midweek.
The west Londoners also suffered an emphatic 3-0 defeat at Leeds last month and are already eight points behind early leaders Arsenal.
The German called his side’s defending ‘soft’ in the defeat at St Mary’s and has warned Chelsea that they will be ‘punished’ in the Premier League unless ‘get tough’.
“If we don’t get tough, we will be punished in the Premier League,” Tuchel told his pre-match press conference ahead of his sides clash with West Ham.
”We will show a reaction. It’s proven we can do it with this group so we need to find the right spirit and attitude in all of the matches.
“It includes me and my staff and all of the team. We are now using all of the momentum we have with the players in our squad and from now we will see our strength.”
