The world’s most valuable football clubs 2024

Forbes have announced their most valuable football clubs in the world for 2024, with Premier League clubs dominating the list.

Top spot is taken by the same side for the third consecutive year, while the average value of clubs has risen 5.1% from a year go. We’ve ranked the top five most valuable clubs in world football in US dollars, according to Forbes.

5. Manchester City – $5.1billion

Manchester City’s rise in the modern era has seen the Citizens enter the top five for valuable clubs in world football. The dominant force in the Premier League across the last decade, Pep Guardiola’s side won a historic league, FA Cup and Champions League treble in 2022-23.

Their revenue ($869m) was second only to Real Madrid.

4. Liverpool – $5.37billion

Liverpool are fourth on the Forbes list, retaining their position from 2023.

The Reds’ overall value has risen by 2% across the last 12 months to an overall figure of $5.37billion US dollars. Owner John Henry, who also owns the Boston Red Sox, purchased Liverpool for a fee of just £300m ($343m) in 2010.

3. Barcelona – $5.6billion

Barcelona’s economic issues are well-documented but the Spanish side remain one of the most valuable clubs in world football.

Third for revenue ($840m) across the last 12 months, Barcelona have an estimated value of $5.6bn. However, their debt as a percentage of value stands at 31%, behind only Inter Milan (44%) and Tottenham (33%) among clubs in the Forbes list of the top 20 most valuable sides.

2. Manchester United – $6.55billion

Manchester United are England’s most valuable club with an estimated worth of $6.55bn.

The Red Devils have endured a decade of decline on the pitch but remain a financial powerhouse on it and have seen their value rise 9% in the last 12 months. New owners Ineos will be hoping to add investment and bring success to Old Trafford, with the club having now gone 11 years without winning the Premier League title.

Manchester United were previously regarded as the most valuable club in the game for six straight seasons between 2007 and 2012, and again for a two-year spell in 2017 and 2018.

1. Real Madrid – $6.6billion

Real Madrid top the list for the third consecutive year with a valuation of $6.6bn.

The Spanish giants continue to have success on and off the pitch, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side clinching the La Liga title in 2023-24 and reaching the Champions League final.

The redevelopment of the Bernabeu has seen transfer spending reduced in recent windows, though it has not compromised success on the pitch. Long-term strategy, signing emerging talent such as Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Eder Militao has been prioritised, over the Galactico additions of past regimes.
