The race for the European Golden Shoe is heating up and as we reach November’s international break it’s tight at the top.
We’ve looked at the five highest scorers across Europe’s top five leagues so far this season.
5. Mateo Retegui – Atalanta (11)
Atalanta spent €28m to sign Mateo Retegui in the summer as the Europa League winners sought a replacement for the sidelined Gianluca Scamacca. The latter’s ACL injury left Gian Piero Gasperini in search of a striker and Retegui was brought in from Serie A rivals Genoa.
Retegui has started the season on fire to rapidly justify that investment, scoring 11 times in 12 league appearances to lead the Capocannoniere award standings. The 25-year-old has already surpassed the seven goals he scored in his debut Serie A season last term.

4. Harry Kane – Bayern Munich (11)
Harry Kane won the European Golden Shoe for the first time last season, following a record-breaking season at Bayern Munich. The 31-year-old scored 36 league goals in 32 appearances for the German side and has picked up where he left off last season.
Kane has 11 goals in the Bundesliga, including hat-tricks against Holstein Kiel and Stuttgart, and 17 in all competitions. He’s also the joint-leading scorer in the Champions League.
3. Omar Marmoush – Eintracht Frankfurt (11)
Omar Marmoush sits alongside Kane as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer. The Egyptian has exploded in output at Eintracht Frankfurt to produce 11 goals and seven assists in just 10 league appearances.
No player in Europe’s top five league has been involved in more goals than Marmoush this season.

2. Erling Haaland – Manchester City (12)
Erling Haaland is targeting a second European Golden Shoe having won the award for the first time in 2022/23.
The Norwegian leads the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot with 12 goals from 11 appearances for Manchester City so far this season. He is the frontrunner to end a third consecutive Premier League season as the league’s leading scorer, a feat only previously achieved by Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry.
1. Robert Lewandowski – Barcelona (14)
Robert Lewandowski has rolled back the years this season to propel Barcelona to the top of La Liga.
The 36-year-old has scored 14 league goals for Hansi Flick’s side, six more than Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior in the latest Pichichi Trophy standings.
Lewandowski has his sights set on a third European Golden Shoe, having claimed back-to-back awards when representing Bayern Munich in 2020/21 and 2021/22. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (4) and Lionel Messi (6) have won the award more than twice.
