The five favourites to win the 2024/25 Premier League Golden Boot

The Premier League returns this weekend with fans full of excitement for what’s to come during the 2024/25 season.

Erling Haaland is aiming to make history as just the third player to win three consecutive Golden Boot awards. Can anyone stop the Manchester City machine? Or will the Norwegian make it three in a row?

We’ve ranked the five favourites for the 2024/25 Premier League Golden Boot.

The five favourites to win the 2024/25 Premier League Golden Boot

Cole Palmer – Chelsea (18/1)

A revelation last season, Cole Palmer announced his arrival as a Premier League star following his move from Manchester City to Chelsea.

The 22-year-old went from fringe prospect to genuine game-changer after leaving the Etihad, ending the 2023/24 season with a league-leading 33-goal involvements.

Palmer scored 22 goals last season to finish as runner-up for the Golden Boot and looks set to be the player Chelsea’s campaign is built around this season.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney, back after missing much of last season through suspension, can also be found at 18/1, as can Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez.

Alexander Isak – Newcastle (14/1)

Last season, Alexander Isak became the first Newcastle player to score 20 top-flight goals in a season since Alan Shearer. The Swedish striker struck 21 times in the Premier League, despite starting just 27 games due to injury.

With an average of a goal every 107 minutes in the Premier League in 2023/24, he looks likely to be a contender at the top end of the scoring charts once again. Newcastle are without European commitments this season, reducing his risk of rotation.

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa (14/1)

Ollie Watkins produced the best season of his career to fire Aston Villa to a top-four finish and Champions League qualification in 2023/24.

Watkins scored 19 league goals and laid on 13 assists, with the latter a league-leading total to earn the 28-year-old the Premier League Playmaker of the Season award. He has evolved into one of the most complete forwards in Europe under Unai Emery, an all-action focal point who has begun to put up elite numbers.

Just three English players, Kevin Phillips, Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy, have won the Premier League’s Golden Boot since the turn of the century.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (10/1)

Mohamed Salah is a perennial contender for this award with only Thierry Henry (4) having won the Premier League Golden Boot on more occasions than the Liverpool forward.

Salah has been a model of consistency since signing for Liverpool and has reached 18+ league goals in each of his seven seasons at Anfield.

Another campaign at that level will place him among the league’s leading scorers once again.

Erling Haaland – Manchester City (8/13)

Erling Haaland is the odds-on favourite for the Golden Boot and with good reason.

The Norwegian has won the accolade in the last two seasons and has now netted 63 goals in 66 league appearances across two seasons at Manchester City.

Last season, he finished five clear of nearest challenger Cole Palmer in the race for the Golden Boot despite missing two months of the campaign through injury.

It continues a remarkable, record-breaking, start to the career of the 24-year-old that has seen him score 245 goals in 298 club appearances.

Incredible.
