Ten Hag predicts tough test at ‘energetic’ Fulham

Erik ten Hag has predicted a tough test for Manchester United as his side travel to face Fulham this weekend.

United look to push towards the top four with a trip to west London on Sunday, in the final round of fixtures before the Premier League pauses for the World Cup.

Fulham have made a strong start to their Premier League return and are ninth in the table, just four points behind Ten Hag’s side. The Dutchman is anticipating a difficult challenge for his team and has warned United must be at their best to secure a positive result.

“It is going to be a really tough game,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“In the Premier League everything is very close. What I have seen from Fulham so far is really energetic and playing really decent football out from the back. You have to be really good there to get a result.

“We have to do everything in our power to get the right result.”

Ten Hag also provided an update on his squad and has concerns at right-back with Diogo Dalot suspended for the trip to Craven Cottage.

The Dutchman discussed the progress of Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the full-back pair having struggled with injuries this season.

“They haven’t got on that well in the last couple of months,” said Ten Hag.

“Brandon wasn’t available with a bad injury, he really struggled but he is in the right direction. He will be back in training camp next week and will go to Cadiz.

“Aaron struggles as well but different side, some injuries, some illnesses so was not available but doesn’t have a real big problem. It is about him to get really fit and provide competition for Diogo in the second half of the season.”
