Tottenham are eyeing a move for Ajax star Donny van de Beek as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen, according to reports today.
Danish international Eriksen is stalling over a new deal at the North London club, with reports linking the 27-year-old with a summer move to Real Madrid.
Should Eriksen depart for Spain, the Mirror claims that Mauricio Pochettino will launch a bid for Ajax’s Van de Beek as he seeks a replacement for the attacking midfielder.
The 22-year-old has starred in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals, with the midfielder’s goal giving the Dutch side a one goal advantage ahead of the second leg of their last four tie against Spurs this week.
According to the report, Ajax will demand a fee in the region of £45m for the youngster, with Tottenham likely to face competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich for his services.
Spurs enjoy a good relationship with Ajax, having signed the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez and Eriksen from the Amsterdam club in recent years, and will be hopeful of beating their rivals to his signature.
