Tottenham are ‘refusing to give up’ on plans to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the club, despite Paris Saint-Germain’s stance on the manager.
Pochettino has emerged as the surprise frontrunner to become Spurs manager with the north London side keen on reappointing the Argentine, just over 18 months after he was dismissed from his position and replaced by Jose Mourinho.
The 49-year-old has reportedly failed to settle in Paris since becoming manager of PSG in January, struggling to deal with the club’s internal politics and a lack of power at the Ligue 1 side.
PSG are reluctant to allow him to leave with the club keen to avoid more managerial upheaval and have triggered a one-year extension to his deal at the Parc des Princes in a bid to ward off interest from England.
The Mirror are reporting that Spurs are ‘refusing to give up’ on their pursuit however, with Pochettino having previously suggested he would be open to returning to Spurs in the future.
Real Madrid had also been mentioned as a potential destination, though the Spanish giants have since reappointed Everton boss and former manager Carlo Ancelotti.
