Tottenham have opened talks with the representatives of Houssem Aouar, as the club look to secure a deal for the Lyon midfielder.
Aouar has been a transfer target for several Premier League clubs in recent windows and was previously subject of interest from Arsenal, the Gunners seeing several approaches for the midfielder rejected last summer.
Spurs have now made their move for the 23-year-old in the final days of the summer transfer window with the north Londoners having held ‘informal talks’ with the player’s representatives over a potential move to England.
Lyon are willing to sell the star this summer with Aouar one of several players placed on the transfer list, with the Daily Mail reporting the club could lower their £25m valuation.
Spurs are pursuing midfield reinforcements with Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko both looking to leave, whilst Harry Winks is also available on loan after falling out of favour.
Nuno Espirito Santo this week agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Metz teenager Pape Sarr in a £14.5m deal, with Spurs beating competition from a host of Premier League rivals to land the 18-year-old, who will remain on loan in France for the forthcoming season as he continues his development.
Spurs are also interested in signing Adama Traore, though have seen an initial approach for the winger rejected by Wolves.
