Solskjaer waxes lyrical about world class Cavani

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Edinson Cavani after the Manchester United forward signed a new contract extension with the club.

Cavani’s future has been uncertain in recent months with speculation surrounding a potential return to his native South America, despite an impressive debut season with the Red Devils that has yielded 15 goals in all competitions.

Solskjaer had been vocal about his desire to retain the services of the 34-year-old for a further season, with Cavani putting pen to paper to commit his future to the club earlier this week,

The Norwegian has now expressed his delight at the deal and has backed Cavani to make a huge impact next season, praising the veteran as ‘one of the best number nines in the world at the moment’.

“We have seen what we can expect from him over the last few months,” said Solskjaer at his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Liverpool.

“Next season, he will come ready. He will be fit over pre-season as he had seven months of no football to catch up this season, which isn’t easy.

“He comes in every day and does everything right, He gives us a number nine position.

“I don’t know how many games we will get out of him but he is one of the best number nines in the world at the moment.”
